Why GI-FI
The disadvantages of existing technologies;ie
 Slow rate.
 High power consumption.
 Low range of frequency operation.
Give invention to this new technology
Currently using technologies:
 Bluetooth.

 Wi-Fi.
What is GI-FI?
 GI-FI means gigabit wireless.
 Worlds first transceiver integrated on single chip.
 Operates on 60ghz on the CMOS process.
 Allows wireless transfer of audio and video data
at upto 5gb per second.
 Transfer data within an indoor environment
usually within a range of 10ms.
5mm Gi-Fi chip
Working in GI-FI
 Time-division multiplexing.

 Intermediate frequency.

 Radio frequency.

 Hetrodyne principle.
Why 60GHZ?
 Immunity to co-channel interface.

 High security.

 Frequency re-use.

 High oxygen absorption at 60GHZ

attenuates signals over distance.

FEATURES OF GI-FI
 Small in size.

 Portable.

 High speed of data transfer.

 Low power consumption.

 Cost-effective.
GI-FI ACCESS DEVICES
APPLICATIONS
 In wireless PAN networks.

 Inter-vehicle communication system.

 Huge data file transfer.

 Office appliances.

 Video information transfer.

Inter-vehicle communication
CONCLUSION.

Within five years,we expect Gi-Fi to

be the dominant technology for

wireless networking.
