 Competitors – technical as well as commercial
 Technology providers
 Reaction scheme for the process
 Block diagram of the process
 Tracing the lines and identifying the line codes
Section II
 Thermodynamics/physiochemical properties of all the
materials used in the process
 Material balance of the process for the capacity
specified by the guide
 Identify all unit processes occurring in the
plant/production process

diagram
 Details of the control valves required
 What are various control valve options
available and why a particular valve is selected
 Cost of the control valves
 Operational details of control valves
 Draw all control loops in the plant
Section IV
 Design all major separation equipment
(minimum of three)
 Identify all safety measures taken in the
industry
 Identify all safety related equipment – their
location and reason for selecting their location
 Identify all the auxiliary equipment related to
safety
Section V
 Design major equipments
 Collect the cost of each of the equipment
including auxiliary equipment (with standby),
piping
 Estimate the cost of the plant designed
 Estimate the breakeven point and payback
period, etc.
 MOC of each equipment and its composition
Section VI
 Complete the mechanical design of major
equipments
 Draw the P&ID of the plant on a drawing
sheet which is signed by your guide
 Identify various pollution control measures
taken by the industry
 Draw the plant layout
Section VII
 Raw material consumption pattern and
sustainability
 Suggestions to improve the conversion and
yield
 Suggestions you feel like giving to the
industry

Forms
 Fill out Student Record form at DDU
 Sign Terms & Conditions form (including
parents signature) at DDU
 Fill out joining training form when you start at
company
 At completion – fill out workplace evaluation
form
 At completion – get supervisors evaluation
form; employer feedback form
Marks in Semester VIII
 Project External Viva – 300
marks
 Project Internal Guide – 100
marks
 Seminar/Working Project Guide – 100
marks
 Total : 500
marks
Mandatory Requirements
 Obey the rules and regulations of the industry
 Every Saturday is reporting day at DDU
 Contact guides for project work
 Prepare project report for both phases in
proper format (2 copies to be submitted)
Advice - I
 Learn as much as you can from engineers and
management there
 Ask questions, be involved in the day to day training
 Try to make a positive contribution to the company –
completing projects/tasks; ideas/suggestions; helping
them out
 You are representing DDU – make a positive
impression
 Show interest in the plant, operations, people
Advice -II
 For those who do not have placement yet, do
so well in your training that they will offer you
a job
 Your respective guides/ panal will provide
more information on the industrial training,
training reports, design of equipment, etc.
 Use various sources of information – Chemical
Engineer’s Handbook; trade & technical
journals; internet; textbooks & reference books
References and Bibliography
 DO NOT
 - say wikipedia
 - use only general website address
 - Incomplete information on journal or book
 - say science direct
 DO
 - books
 - scientific journal articles
