Importance of Communication in Nursing
Communication is very essential and very important in
nursing profession including any organization and institutions,
Communication plays the vital role in administration and
management to success goal. So through communication a
nurse established a relationship with the patient-
1.It helps the patient acquire healthy habits behavior.
2.It is important for the nursing process.
3.It helps the nurse understand her patient and coworker.
4.It gives relaxation and mental satisfaction with his work.
5.It modified her/his behavior and improves nursing skills.

Interpersonal Communication
Definition of Interpersonal communication
Interpersonal communication is the process by which people
exchange information, feeling and meaning through verbal
and non-verbal messages. It is face-to-face communication.

Function of Interpersonal communication:


1.Function of interpersonal communication are few
participants involved and consists of inquiring, informing,
persuading and entertaining.
2.During inquiring interpersonal communication establish
good understanding each other.

4. There are many sensory channels used. So that feedback is
immediate.
5. Sharing ideas, feelings, and contributes together to total
nursing care and treatment of the clients or patients.

purpose, empathy, guiding and spirituality.
Purpose of interpersonal Communication
1. Helping clients to promote maintain or restore health.
2. To achieve a peaceful death.
3. Facilitating client management of difficult health care
issues.
4. Providing quality nursing care in an efficient manner.
5. To enhance speaking skills.
6. To boost confidence.
7. To groom personality.
8. With interpersonal communication we try to interact with
others and hence we get to know others.
