In the year

The Pilgrims
in England wanted the
freedom to worship as
they pleased. 
 They decided to leave
England in a small ship
called the Mayflower. They
sailed across the Atlantic
Ocean.
 The difficult journey
lasted over 2 months. Life
was very hard on
Mayflower. Pilgrims
finally reached America
Their first winter was
very cold and many
people got sick and
died. 
In the spring Native
American greeted the
Pilgrims.
They taught them how
to plant corn and hunt.
Pilgrims would not
have survived without
their help.
 In the Fall Pilgrims
had feast to thank God
for the harvest. They
invited their Native
friends to join them.
The feast and fun
lasted for 3 days!
Today Thanksgiving day is
celebrated on the last
Thursday in November.
Families get together
and have dinner.
