 The myth of Pandoras box
• Pandora was, according to the myth, the first mortal woman on Earth. Pandora was breed into existence by Hephaestus the ,god of fire, who
enlisted the help of his companions to make her extraordinary. From Aphrodite she received the ability to feel deep emotion, from Hermes
she gained mastery over language, Athena gave her the gift of fine craftsmanship and attention to detail and Hermes gave her her name.
After that Zeus gave her the trait of curiosity and second, he gave her a heavy box that was screwed tightly shut, and the contents Zeus told
her, were not for mortal eyes. She wasn’t supposed to open the box under any circumstance. On Earth, Pandora met and fell in love with
Epimetheus, a talented titan who had been assigned to design the natural world. He worked alongside his brother Prometheus, who created
the first humans but was eternally punished for giving them fire. Epimetheus really missed his brother but he found I fiery kindhearted soul
in Pandora and they really got along. Pandora used to get distracted easily and her mind often wondered to the contents of the box, most
times she was convinced she heard voices whispering and calling her to the box. With time pandora became obsessed with the box, and once
she couldn’t bare it anymore, she opened the box. To her shock monsters and horrendous creatures escaped, screeching as they flied away.
Filled with terror Pandora tried to imprison the monsters back in the box but she failed to do so.Zeus had put all the forces of evil and
suffering into the box, and after released, they were uncontainable. After that Pandora became aware of the sound echoing from the box, as it
wasn’t demonic but very comforting. As she opened the box once again a beam of light rose out and eased her fear and pain which gave her
hope. The main purpose of the myth of Pandora though is to address the question of why evil exists in the world.
