Introduction
• Recruitment and selection is an important operation in HRM, designed to maximize
employee strength in order to meet the employer’s strategic goals and objectives.
• It is the process of sourcing, screening, shortlisting and selecting the right candidates
for the filling the required vacant positions.
• Right person for the right job is the basic principle in recruitment and selection.
Every organisation should give attention to the selection of its manpower, especially
its manager.
• Recruitment is a continuous process whereby the firm attempts to develop a pool of
qualified applicants for the future human resources needs even though specific
vacancies do not exist.
• The selection is a process of picking the right candidate with required qualification
and capabilities to fill the jobs in the organization. The selection process is quite
lengthy and complex as it involves a series of steps before making the final selections.

 
Objective of the study
• A study of recruitment and selection process at big bazaar, Nayapalli

• To critically analyze the functioning of recruitment and selection


procedures

• To identify the probable area of improvement to make recruitment and


selection procedure and more effective.
Research methodology
• Research design- Descriptive research
• Sources of data collection-The primary as well as the secondary sources was used
for collection of data.
• Primary data- Questionnaire and interview
• Secondary data- Books and journals
• Sample size- 50
• Sampling procedure- Random sampling method
• Sample frame- Samples were taken from the middle level group of employees of
big bazaar.
• Population- the total population of the employees in big bazaar were around 180
and above.
• Tabulation of data - Various data collected through questionnaire were tabulated
as per the situation. Against each question the response was tabulated.
• Analysis of data- research report was done basically through highest percentage
of respondents against each question.
• Preparation of report- finally, the report was prepared based on the collected
information, analysis of data, literature study and the observation.

Findings
• According to employees there is a good recruitment and selection process
in the organisation.
 
• Through the observation it is found that HR team hires employees to make
the best hiring decision.

• Many employees come to know about the opening of big bazaar through
internet.

• Through observation it is found that many employees find difficulty in the


personal interview round and less no of employees in other tests.

• Through observation it was found that career growth have beneficial


effect upon the ability of big bazaar to attract & retain good employee
Suggestions
• During the selection process not only the experience candidate but also the
fresh candidate should be selected so as to avail the innovation and
enthusiasm of new candidates.

• Recruitment process should be less time consuming.

• Candidate should be kept on the job for some time period; if suitable they
should recruited.

• The effectiveness of the interviewing process and other selection instrument


must be fully effective.
Conclusion
• Recruitment and selection procedure should not be lengthy.
 
• To some extent a clear picture of required candidates should be made in order
to search for appropriate candidates.

• The recruitment and selection process should be more effective
