- came from the Greek word “baptizein” which means to
“plunge” or “immerse”
- also called as “the washing of regeneration and renewal by the
holy spirit”
- This bath is called enlightenment
- we call it gift, because sin is buried in water

I. BAPTISM AS A
SACRAMENT
2 Corinthians 5:17
- “Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new
creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new

- “or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized
into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We
were therefore buried with him through baptism into

III. MATTER AND FORM
The matter used is “natural water”
Pronouncing the words is the form of baptism, namely: “I baptize you
in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
- Any clergy can be able to baptize, but in most cases the parish
priest or the deacon administers the sacrament, anointing the
person being baptized with oils, and pouring blessed water over
the child or adult’s head not just once but three times
