Piikani first nations

Where did the piikani group live?
They lived mostly in
what is known now as
Montana, and the
Northern piikani lived
mostly in Alberta
Canada.
How they moved around?
The first nations made two creations
that were very helpful one was a
Toboggan and the other was snow
shoes. The Toboggans were mostly
pulled by dogs but now we pull
toboggans in hand. They used
snowshoes for deep snow and for
grip on the icy ground.
What the group ate?
They eat large animals like
deer,they balanced there meals
with vegetables and nuts and
fruit. There traditional food was
buffalo and they hunted them in
groups, sometimes in groups of
over 50.
What language the group spoke?

The group spoke


Algonquian,but that language
also belonged to the Kainai
and the Siksika but the
languages were not identical.

were the first to
host the Indian
celebration day
Did you know
that Piikani
means proud and
strong to culture. In the piikani nation
they have roughly
3600 people It was the first
registered. band in Alberta to
demand a vote.
