PRESENT PERFECT TENSE

ENGLISH
• The present perfect tense is used to express actions
that happened in the past and continue in the present.

This tense uses the verb HAVE as the auxiliary verb in affirmative, negative and question
sentences.
The structure for affirmative sentences is:

SUBJECT + HAVE/HAS+ VERB IN PAST PARTICIPLE+ COMPLEMENT


• Verbs in past participle can be regular or irregular and are always used in present
perfect tense.
I have seen all the Spiderman movies Yo he visto todas las películas del hombre
araña.

She has worked in that factory for years Ella ha trabajado en esa fábrica por años.

They have eaten vegetables for months Ellos han comido vegetales por meses.

Luis has forgotten to clean his room Luis ha olvidado limpiar su cuarto.

They haven´t visited their family since Monday. Ellos no han visitado su familia desde el lunes.

He hasn´t found his cellphone. Él no ha encontrado su celular.


They haven’t finished the University. Ellos no han terminado la Universidad.
Mary hasn’t traveled to New York for months. Mary no ha viajado a Nueva York por meses.
Have we tried to finish the project all ¿Hemos tratado de terminar el proyecto
night? toda la noche?
Yes, we have/ No, we haven’t Si/No
Has he bought a new computer? ¿Ha comprado él una nueva
