FORCE
• When you push or pull, you actually exert force.
• Do you see it?
• Force itself may not be seen, but effects are visible.
• Can you name the effects when you exert force onto your
bag?
• When you pull it, to which direction does it go? What
happens when you push it?
TO WHICH WAY SHOULD I
GO?
• A push moves an object away from you.
• A pull moves it towards you.
• If force can do this, what can we infer about it?
• We can say that the direction of the force influences
the direction of the object’s movement.
THINK ABOUT THIS...
• What happens if both teams playing tug-of-war exert
an equal amount of force? To which way will rope
go? Which team will win?
STRETCH IT OUT
• Pulling brings the opposite ends of an object farther
apart, while pushing brings them closer together.
• When you pull something apart, it is called stretching
and when you are pushing it together, it is called
compressing.
ASSIGNMENT
• Do the activity on page 285 LETTER B
ONLY (Tug-of-war). While you doing the
activity, take a picture at least 1 picture and
print on a short bondpaper, write your
answer below your picture. Attach it on
your Science Book.
