THE APRON
The Apron It is the part of
the car that faces down, in
front of the operator. It
contains the gears and the
advance clutches that
transmit the movement of
the master screw and the
longitudinal and
transverse carriage
turning bar.
The entire carriage can
be moved along the
lathe bed manually, by
turning the crank, or
automatically, by
engaging the automatic
feed controls on the
apron. Once in position,
the carriage can be fixed
to the bedplate by
tightening the
corresponding fixing
screw. Attached to the
apron there is also the
thread cutting clock,
which indicates the
exact moment in which
the half nuts must be
engaged and disengaged
