IS SPIRITUALITY NECESSARY? WHAT ARE
YOUR THOUGHTS ON THIS

• It may be, it may be not

MARIE FRANCOISE THÉRÈSE MARTIN

• Born in January 2,1873

• Youngest of 9 children
• Mother died when she was 4
• When she was 15 she became a Carmelite nun

SPIRITUALITY

• Used the imagery of nature to explain how the Divine Presence is

everywhere and how everything is connected in God’s loving care and arms.
• She saw herself as a little flower: Simple and hidden, but blooming where
God had planted her
SIMPLE ACTIVITY

• What is that one simple thing which you consider as God’s reminder for you
that He is ever present in your life? Why do you think so?
• As Therese said that she blooms where God has planted her, it entailed
acceptance. As for you, do you also aim to bloom where God has put/planted
you right now? Expound
• What are your thoughts on humility?
HUMILITY

• As mentioned before, she considers herself as a little flower. Little because

she does not consider herself as someone who is great, not seeing herself as a
brilliant rose or an elegant lily. Only a small wild flower, unnoticed by the
population, yet growing and giving glory to God.
WHY IS HUMILITY IMPORTANT?

• It affects our relationships as a whole

• Brings us peace of mind
• Makes us secure
