SIMPLE PRESENT

You use the simple present to talk about habits and routines, and things
that are always true.

I usually go to bed at midnight.


PRESENT PROGRESSIVE
You use the present progressive to talk about activities that are in
progress now, or to describe changing situations.

I am learning Japanese as well as English.


PRESENT PERFECT
You use the present perfect to talk about present situations which started
in the past and are continuing now, or which happened at an indefinite
time in the past.

I‘ve been taking English classes since last year.


PAST SIMPLE AND
PROGRESSIVE
You use the past progressive in contrast with the past simple to talk about
activities that were in progress when something happened.

He was living in Buenos Aires when he met her.


PAST PERFECT
You use the past perfect to show that one past event happened before
another past event.

The move had started when I arrived.
