Growth Statistics
• Global wind energy market size was valued at over USD 93 billion in
2019, growing at a CAGR of 8.4% from 2020 to 2026 and its annual
installation is anticipated to exceed 101 GW by 2026.
• The offshore wind energy installation is expected to register a
growth of more than 14% through 2026. 
• Major countries across the world all had a similar level of wind
generation, in line with the global average: China 9.8%, the US
12.0%, India 9.7%.
• Wind power capacity installed in India in 2017-18 stood at 1,865 MW.
The government has set a target of achieving 60,000 MW by
December 2022. 
• Capacity of 37,669 MW has already been commissioned as on 29
February of FY20, with 9,236 MW of projects under implementation
and 1,200 MW under bidding
