Diary of a Young Girl

By Anne Frank
Written by Anne Frank from the time of her 13th
birthday on the 12th June 1942 until 1st August
1944.

For most of this period Anne was in hiding with

her parents, sister, another family with one son
and a single gentleman. As Jewish people in Nazi
occupied Holland, this was their only hope of
survival.

They entered hiding in her father’s business

premises where they remained from 6th July to
their arrest in early August.
Prior to going into hiding Anne lived a life of
great freedom and privilege. Her parents
spoilt her and she was popular and outgoing.
Her diary describes her struggle to live not
only in close quarters to her family for the
first time, but her lose of freedom and life as
a teenager.
She writes at time with great insight and
maturity while at others as a selfish spoilt
girl.
As the weeks, months and seasons pass Anne
writes of her struggles mentally, physically
and at times with her blossoming sexuality.
