    William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England in 1564 to parents Mary Arden and John Shakespeare. He married Anne Hathaway in 1582 when she was pregnant with their first child. They had three children together: Susanna, Hamnet, and Judith. Shakespeare began his career in London in the 1580s as an actor and playwright. He wrote many plays, poems, and sonnets between 1588 and 1616 that have endured as some of the most renowned works in English literature. Shakespeare died in his hometown of Stratford-upon-Avon in 1616.
