and philosopher who was a leading advocate of critical pedagogy.
He is best known for his influential work Pedagogy of the
Oppressed, which is generally considered one of the foundational
texts of the critical pedagogy movement.

women and men learn that through learning they can
make and remake themsetves, because women and men
are able to take responsibility for themselves as beings
capable of knowing- of knowing that they know and
knowing that they don’t.
Conscientization. The process of developing a critical
awareness of one's social reality through reflection
and action Paulo Freire says that we all acquire social
myths which have a dominant tendency, and so
learning is a critical process which depends upon
uncovering real problems and actual needs.
Conscientization are done through , Education as the "practice of
freedom" by attaining critical awareness men (and women) can transform
their object conditions (Paulo Freire 1974)Some forms of Education
includes:
Domesticating education - if it negates people's experiences and view
them as passive observers of change.
Development training then becomes a venue for synthesizing people's
experiences and form the basis for reflection.
