“PRESENT TENSE I”

 Simple Present Tense
• Simple present usually used to express the
habit, fact, or daily activity.
• There are 2 form of simple present:
– Verbal Form
– Nominal Form
 Verbal Form
(Bentuk Verbal)
– Positive (bentuk positif)
• Subject + V1 (s/es) + Object + Compliment

– Negative (Bentuk Negatif)
SUBJECT + DO/ DOES + NOT + V1 + OBJECT + C

• Interrogative (bentuk tanya)

DO/ DOES + SUBJECT + V1 + O+ C?

Notes:
C = Compliment
Compliment bisa berupa Adverb of place/ time (kata keterangan), adjective (kata sifat) atau
Adverb of time dari simple present tense : every ……… (ex: every morning, everyday),

EXAMPLE :
(+) He eats banana every morning.
(-) He does not eat banana every morning
(?) Does he eat banana every morning?
 Nominal Form
(Bentuk Nominal)
• Positive (bentuk positif)

• Negative (bentuk negatif)

SUBJECT + TO BE (is, am, are) + NOT + O + C

• Interrogative (bentuk tanya)

TO BE (is, am, are) + Subject + O + C

Notes:
C= Compliment
Compliment bisa berupa : adverb of time, adverb of place,
adjective (kata sifat)
• Example
(+) Justin Bieber is very handsome
(-) Justin Bieber is not very handsome
(?) Is Justin Bieber very handsome?
 Present Continuous Tense
• Use to express the activity that happening.
• Adverb of time : now, at this time.
• Positive Form
+ SUBJECT + TO BE(IS, AM, ARE) + V.ing + O + C
• Negative Form
– SUBJECT + TO BE(IS, AM, ARE) + NOT + V.ing + O
• Interrogative Form
? TO BE(IS, AM, ARE) + SUBJECT +V.ing + O + C?
• Example :
(+) Mother is washing my T-Shirt now.
(-) Mother is not washing my T-Shirt now.
(?) Is mother washing my T-Shirt now?
