PRESENT PERFECT TENSE
• Use to express the activity that have finished
or happened today.
• Adverb of time: today, just now
• There are 2 Form:
 Verbal Form
 Nominal Form

• Example:
(+) Johnson and Anne have finished their
examination today.
(-) Johnson and Anne have not finished their
examination today.
(?) Have Johnson and Anne finished their
examination today?
Nominal Form
• Positive
SUBJECT + HAS/ HAVE+ BEEN + O
• Negative
SUBJECT + HAS/ HAVE+ NOT + BEEN + O
• Interrogative
HAS/ HAVE+ SUBJECT + BEEN + O?
• Example:
(+) Sean has been at home just now.
(-) Sean has not been at home just now.
(?) Has Sean been at home just now?
PRESENT PERFECT CONTINUOUS
• Use to express the activity that started on the
past and still occur until now.
• Positive
– SUBJECT + HAVE/ HAS + BEEN+ Ving + O
• Negative
– SUBJECT + HAVE/ HAS + NOT + BEEN+ Ving + O
• Interrogative
– HAVE/ HAS + SUBJECT + BEEN+ Ving + O?
• Notes : Adverb of time ( since……. , for………,
whole……..)
• Example:
(+) My Brother had been working for ten years at
Pertamina.
(-) My Brother had not been working for ten years at
Pertamina.
(?) Had my brother been working for ten years at
Pertamina?
