How does height and

slope increase and

decrease speed?

Georgia lang, Johnny carr, Nick delgado, and

Shayla aviles
Which hill is faster to go down? Taller or shorter?

When an object's point is taller the thing that is going down it will go faster
than when the point is lower.

EXAMPLE: The object is the tennis ball if you drop it down the higher hill it
will be faster than if you drop it down a shorter hill.
Picture of ramp
This is a picture of a hill that will make your
vehicle increase and decrease speed.
When gliding down a slope or hill will gradually increase your speed because
when you're going down a steep slope or hill you're speed increases.
How long it takes for a hot wheels car to get down a
ramp.

vehicle speed Height of ramp

car 0.59 sec 12 inches

car 0.85 sec 6 inches

car 0.34 sec 24 inches

How the height of ramps affect the speed or an object.

To investigate into how the height of a ramp affects the speed of a toy car rolled down a hill or
slope because the higher the ramp the more Gravitational potential Energy (GPE), the more
kinetic energy converted and the car will go faster. So the ramp increases, the velocity will
also increase. If you also decrease the height or a ramp your velocity will decrease as well as
your speed.
GLOSSARY

INCREASE- increase is where something gets higher or faster.

DECREASE- decrease is where something gets lower or slower.

SLOPE- slope is where one side is higher than the other.

VELOCITY- velocity is the speed of something in a given direction.

ENERGY- energy is how much speed is going into the object.

SPEED- speed is how fast an object is going.
