(Chapter 9)
Organizations depend on customer because
without them there is no business , but in
order to satisfy these customers, organizations
also depend on a number of the parties that
9.4 provide in with resources and sanction its
Stakeholders operations. There are parties other than the
customer that have an interest or stake in the
organization and in what it does but may not
receive a product.

2
Criteria used by interested parties to judge business
organization effectiveness or success:
INTERESTED PARTY SUCCESS CRITERIA
OWNER FINANCIAL RETURN
EMPLOYEES JOB SATISFACTION, PAY AND CONDITIONS
AND QUALITY OF LEADERSHIP
CUSTOMERS QUALITY OF PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY –
JOBS, SUPPORT FOR OTHER TRADERS IN
THE COMMUNITY – CARE FOR THE LOCAL
ENVIRONMENT
SUPPLIERS SATISFACTORY MUTUAL TRADING
INVESTORS VALUE SHARES
GOVERNMENT COMPLIANCE WITH LEGISLATION

3
The concept of quality as we think of it now
first emerged out of the out of the Industrial
Revolution. Previously goods had been made
from start to finish by the same person or
9.4 team of people, with handcrafting and
Stakeholders tweaking the product to meet “Quality
Criteria”.

4
Mass Production brought huge teams of
people together to work on specific stages of
production where one person would not
necessarily complete a product from the start
to finish.

5
The Quality profession grew from simple
control, to engineering, to systems
engineering. Quality Control Activities were
predominant in the 1940’s, 1950’s and 1960’s.
The 1970’s were an era of quality engineering
9.4 and the 1990s saw quality systems as an
Stakeholders emerging field. Like medicine, accounting,
and engineering, quality has received status as
recognizes profession.

The International Organization for
Standardization’s ISO 9001 : 2008 series
describes standards for a QMS addressing the
principles and process surrounding the
9.5 design, development and delivery for a
Quality general product or service.
Management Organizations can participate in a continuing
Organizations and certification process to ISO 9001 :2000 to
Awards
demonstrate their compliance with the
standard, which includes a requirement for
continual improvement of the QMS

8
ISO 9000 :2005 provides information on the
fundamentals and vocabulary used in quality
management systems. ISO 9004 :2000
9.5 provides guidance on improvement methods.
Quality
Neither of these standards can be used for
Management
certification purposes as they provide
Organizations and
Awards guidance, not requirements.

9
The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality
Award is a competition to identify and
recognize top-quality U.S. companies. This
9.5 model addresses a broadly-based range of
Quality
quality criteria, including commercial success
Management
and corporate leadership. Once an
Organizations and
Awards organization has won the award it has to wait
several years before being eligible to apply
again.

The European Foundation for Quality

Quality Management’s EFQM Excellence Model
Management supports an award scheme similar to the
Organizations and Malcolm Baldrige Award for European
Awards companies.

11
In Canada, the National Quality Institute
presents the ‘Canada Awards for Excellence’
on an annual basis to organizations that have

Quality areas of Quality and Workplace Wellness, and

12
The Alliance for Performance Excellence is a
network of state, local , and international
organizations that use the Malcolm Baldrige

SlidesCarnival icons are editable shapes.

This means that you can:

◦ Resize them without losing
quality.
◦ Change fill color and opacity.
◦ Change line color, width and
style.
Isn’t that nice? :)

Example:

Now you can use any emoji as an icon!
And of course it resizes without losing quality and you can change
the color.
