POWER SUPPLY UNIT is also called as

power supply or PSU. This is the device


that supplies power to your personal
computer. Although you could plug the
personal computers directly into standard
electrical outlets, the power supply then
pulls the required amount of electricity and
converts the AC current to DC current and
it also regulates the voltage to eliminate
spikes and surges common in most
electrical systems.
When referring to computer hardware, a form
factor is a specification of physical dimensions,
layouts, and other explicit information that helps
ensure the hardware works with products that
support that form factor. Form factors help
prevent incompatibilities between multiple
hardware manufacturers.

1. Check and confirm right voltages of
equipment to Laboratory personnel or
teacher.
2. Know the location of emergency
equipment such as fire extinguisher and first
aid kits. (also locate emergency exit/s if
evacuating the premises is necessary)
3. Create an ESD free environment or
work area by holding a metal base for 10
seconds for grounding, using anti-static wrist
straps, using anti-static containers and using
anti-static mat.
4. Keep the PC unplugged when working
inside it.

Position the Power Supply Unit (PSU) into the case as


shown above. Screw it from the outside with 4 case
screws.

Connect the 20 pin motherboard power connector


on PSU controller. Its clip snaps when you push
it down.
New motherboard will require you to connect the 4pin or
8pin 12v motherboard power connector. Connect it and
make sure the clip snaps closed to secure the
connector.
Push down the 20 pins power connector to tighten it.
Dont worry because the clip will automatically snaps the
PSU controller so it will be secured.
