01. DEFINITION
& PURPOSE
 Definition
Procedure text is a kind of the text that is designed to describe how something is achieved through a
sequence of actions or steps. Procedure text usually the title of procedure text begins with ‘’how to’’.
Procedure text is dominantly structured with imperative sentence since it actually an instruction.

 Purpose
The purpose of procedure text is to tell the reader how to do or make something. The information is
presented in a logical sequence of events which is broken up into small sequence steps. These texts are
usually written in the presents tense. The most common example of a procedural text is a recipe.
02. GENERIC
STRUCTURE
 Goals/aim: this text contains about porpose of making or operating of something
 Material/equipment : material consist of ingredients that are used in making
something. But not all parts of procedure text includes materials,sometimes a
procedure text does not have materials section.
 Step/ methods . Contains the steps or sequences that must be done so that the
objectives outlined in the aim/goal to be achieved.steps or sequences must be a
sequence from the first to the last.
03. LANGUANGE
FEATURE
 Use adverbial of sequence (e.g : first, second, third, the last)
 Using conjunction (e.g : then, next, afterward)
 Use command / imperative sentence
 Using adverbials (adverbs) to express detail the time,place,manner accurate,for
example ,for five minutes 2 hours,etc
 Using action verbs (e.g : make, take, cook, etc)
 Using simple present tense
04. EXAMPLE
 Steps:
How To Make Handsanitizer
- Mix the alcohol and aloe vera gel in the bowl.
Ingredients: Pour the ingredients into the bowl and use the
⅔ cup 99% rubbing alcohol spoon to mix them together well. The mixture
⅓ cup pure alo evera gel should be completely smooth.
8 to 10 drops essential oil (optional)
- Add the essential oil. Add it one drop at a
time,stirring as you go. After about 8 drops,
smell the mixture to see whether you like the
scent. If it seems strong enough, stop there. If
you like a stronger scent, add a few more
drops.

- Funnel the mixture into the container. Place the

funnel over the mouth of the container and
pour the hand sanitizer in. Fill it up, then screw
on the lid until you’re ready to use it.
