• The Boston Consulting Group's Product Portfolio Matrix (BCG


Matrix) is designed to support long-term strategic planning by
reviewing the product portfolio and deciding where to invest,
discontinue the product, or develop it. Allows companies to
consider growth opportunities. This is also known as Growth /
ShareMatrix.
• 1. Dogs: These are products with low growth or market share.
• 2. Question mark or problem child: A product in a high-growth
market with a low market share.
• 3. Star: A product in a high growth market with a high market
share.
• 4. Cash cow: A product in a low-growth market with a high
market share
