Problem Statement
The problem that we identified as worth solving is that Carpet Weaving is one of
the traditional business in Afghanistan, The main issues and challenges found
are: lack of branding and market linkage, lack of access to finance, low quality
raw materials, inadequate cut and wash facilities, lack of market research and
limited training

We found that approximately 85% % of the customers that we interviewed are

facing this problem.

Currently, they are managing this problem by Renting labors from neighbor
countries and exporting unprocessed products to neighbor countries (describe
the existing alternatives here).

We used the following tools to arrive at these findings: CSO site, Meet Carpet
business men
(mention how you gathered your info – online (survey, emails, social
media)/phone/in-person, etc.

How many of them said that they are 4-5
managing to address the problem and
don’t really need another solution?

problem is a pain point, coping with the inadequate cut and wash facilities, lack of market
Solution

We propose to do market research for the specific products with skill full employees,
search for business links or market linkage and international market of carpet and
export final product to world market (describe the solution here) to solve this problem.

Our solution will address the customer’s problem better than the existing alternatives
(which you described in the previous slide) that the customer is using in the following way:

_______________________________________________________________________
• The customers can visit the carpet market physically.
• Our products will reach to world market.
• The business will touch the market linkage

Back-of-the-Envelope Calculation
Based on what you recorded in the Back-of-the-Envelope Calculation student handout, fill up the
table below:

Product / Offering 10 lacs

Projected cost/month 3 lacs

Sales/month

Revenue/month 10*50000= 5 lacs

Profit/month 10*10000= 1 lac

Back-of-the-Envelope Calculation (contd.)

CONCLUSION
( this idea is feasible because in whole Afghanistan they are using carpet in home now a days they are
importing from other countries and neighbor countries ( Iran, India, Pakistan , Tajikistan , Turkmenistan
and many more ) are using more carpets. There are so many countries using carpets.
We just did calculation of 10 carpets, if we cover our country and neighbors our income will be increased.
We should do some expenses at the beginning of startup to promote our business.

the aim is to promote the business which are facing these problems
Lack of finance
Machineries
Market research and market linkage

Why are Afghan rugs so expensive and famouse?

• The finer the materials (such as silk) the longer it will take. A big factor
that comes into play with Persian rugs and their cost is what material
they are made from. ... As the silk is so fine, it takes millions of knots to
create the rug (which also takes longer to weave) and gives a really
clear and detailed pattern.

• Their versatility in design, function, and color are what makes them so
special. Afghan rugs can expensive, opulent, and extravagant, but
they can also be affordable, practical, and durable.
