Corporate-level Strategy

Corporate-level strategy is concerned with the overall purpose


and scope of an organization and how value will be added to
the different parts (business units) of the organization.
Business-level Strategy

Business-level strategy is about how to compete successfully in


particular markets.

Usually for products or services.


Operation-level Strategy
(Operational Strategy)

Operation-level Strategy/operational strategy is concerned with


how the component parts of an organization deliver effectively
the corporate and business-level strategies in terms of resources,
processes and people.
Strategic Business Unit (SBU)

A strategic business unit, popularly known as SBU, is a fully-functional unit


of a business that has its own vision and direction. Its planning is done
separately from other businesses of the company. Typically, a strategic
business unit operates as a separate unit, but it is also an important part of
the company.

It could be a product or service or unit or program for which resources are


dedicated exclusively and performance also measured separately.
The Vocabulary of Strategy

Vision
A vision or strategic intent is the desired future state of the organization. It is an
aspiration around which a strategist, perhaps a chief executive, might seek to focus
the attention and energies of members of the organization.
Mission
A mission is a general expression of the overall purpose of the organization, which,
ideally, is in line with the values and expectations of major stakeholders and
concerned with the scope and boundaries of the organization. It talks about how
the vision will be accomplished.
The Vocabulary of Strategy

Goal/Objective
The word goal/objective is usually means a general aim in line with the
mission. It is more precise and time bounded.

Strategy
Strategy is the long-term as well as short-term direction of the organization
along with the deployment of resources.
