Lewis structure

Lewis structure:
A remarkably simple qualitative model was
invented by G.N. Lewis, based on some rules
that most chemical bonds appear to obey.
In elaborating these rules, we will take as given
facts like the number of valance electrons
available to a particular atom.
Multi-electron atoms can have two electrons in a
given orbital, and Lewis observed that molecules
tend to populate the states associated with
bonds so as to give each atom participating in
the bond a “closed shell” electronic count.
