causes depression, but a
variety of issues may be
involved why a teenager
might become depressed .
These include:

Types and Symptoms of
Depression
Major Depressive
Disorder (MDD),

This is the most well-known type of


depression. Individuals with major
depression will experience a majority of
depression-specified symptoms, such
as loss of appetite, lack of
concentration, sleep problems ,loss of
interest in activities or even suicidal
thoughts.
Persistent depressive
disorder

It’s a milder, but chronic, form of


depression. In order for the diagnosis
to be made, symptoms must last for at
least 2 years. PDD can affect your life
more than major depression because it
lasts for a longer period.It’s common
for people with PDD to: lose interest in
normal daily activities, feel hopeless,
lack productivity, have low self-esteem.
TREATMENTS FOR
DEPRESSION
Medical treatments / Medication

The main medical treatment for


depression is antidepressant
medication. There's a lot of
misinformation about antidepressant
medication and while there is no simple
explanation as to how it works, it can be
very useful in the treatment of moderate
to severe depression and some anxiety
disorders.
Psychological treatments /
psychotherapy
it can help you change your thinking
patterns and improve your coping skills
so you're better equipped to deal with
life's stresses and conflicts. As well as
supporting your recovery, psychological
therapies can also help you stay well
identifying and changing unhelpful
thoughts and behaviour.
Family therapy

it may be helpful if family


conflict is contributing to a teen's
depression. The teen will also
need support from family or
teachers to help with any school
or peer problems. Occasionally,
hospitalization in a psychiatric
unit may be required for
teenagers with severe
depression.
Supplemental therapies

now this is just going to be daily changes and


activities, such as exercise ,sleep and diet. all
of these things are essential to maintain your
bodily functions that you need every day. it
can help balance out those hormones that you
might be struggling with or decrease your
stress. there are just so many things that
treating your body right will do for you.

CONCLUSIONS ( SUMMARY)

Teen depression is a mental illness that takes over the brain and inner feeling system
through teen boys and girls. Most teens diagnosed with depression often turn to suicide
before talking it over with someone. To avoid this, do various treatments and dont feel
that talking to someone about your depression is shameful thing. Ignore the social stigma
around and get help. This condition is nothing to be ashamed of!
Now that we know more about depression, let us not forget those who suffer
from it every day. If you see someone around who you think might be
depressed, reach out a friendly hand.  If you suspect the problem is more
serious, use the information you have gained from this project or call the
counseling center.  No one needs to be left alone to battle depression. 
Recognize the signs and symptoms and you may make a difference in
somone's life.
