subgroup of enzymes called transpeptidases. PBPs are involved in the synthesis of peptidoglycan.
PBP PBPs are characterized by their affinity to bind the penicillin. Beta lactams bind to PBPs. Inhibition of PBP will lead to irregularities in the cell wall structure – eventually cell death.
