TRANSITION PLAN

BY: MATTHEW FARRELL

SCHOOL CHOICE
• The school I chose for this project is UBC. UBC is located in Vancouver, and
I will be taking their Computer Science course. According to their website
UBC is “a global centre for teaching, learning and research, consistently
ranked among the top 20 public universities in the world and recently
recognized as North America’s most international university.”
WHY I CHOSE UBC

• I chose UBC because its computer science courses seemed very interesting
diving into topics like machine learning, it also seems like it has the most
courses out of all the universities I have researched. Another thing that made
me want to go to UBC was the look of the school. It is a very beautiful
school, with the combination of the mountains, trees, city and ocean makes
the school look even nicer not to mention the school is very modern and
sleek.
PROGRAM CHOICE

• The program that I want to enroll in is the computer science course at UBC.
It is a 4-year course that teaches computer programming, calculus, statistics
as well as things like machine learning
WHY I CHOSE COMPUTER SCIENCE

• I chose to enroll in computer science because I am very interested in coding

and the ways a computer works. I enjoy troubleshooting and problem solving
which is 90% of the work in programming and I like the idea of creating a
thing I can be proud of whether it be a video game or even just a website
REQUIREMENTS
• To get into Computer Science at UBC I need:
English 12 -or- English 12 First Peoples
Pre-calculus 12

One of the following courses: Anatomy and Physiology 12, Biology 12, Chemistry 12
-or- Physics 12

English 11 -or- English 11 First Peoples

Pre-calculus 11 -or- Foundations of Mathematics 12

One approved Language 11

Physics 11

Chemistry 11

COSTS AND PAYMENT PLAN
AS EXPECTED, THIS DOESN’T COME FOR FREE, SO I
WILL NEED A PLAN FOR HOW I WILL PAY FOR ALL
OF IT
HERE ARE THE FEES I WILL ACQUIRE AND THE
PLAN I HAVE, TO PAY THEM OFF:
COSTS

CONCLUSION

• After all of my research I have figured out where I want to go, what I want to do
how much it will cost and how I will pay for it. This project overall was probably
one of if not the most important project I have done in school because I have
learned so much about what I want to do and what it will cost as well as how I am
going to pay for all of it.
