COMPARATIVES

AND
SUPERLATIVES
WHAT ARE COMPARATIVE AND SUPERLATIVE
FORMS OF THE ADJECTIVES?

• Adjectives can compare two things or more than two things. When we make
these comparisons, we use COMPARATIVE and SUPERLATIVE forms of
adjectives.
COMPARATIVES:
• We use a comparative to express inequality by focusing on the lower or the
higher degree of a scale.
SUPERLATIVES:
• We use a superlative to express which one of a group is outstanding in a
particular way.
