About Aeropagitica
• A speech of Mr. John Milton for the Liberty of Unlicenc'd Printing, to the
Parlament of England 
• Aeropagitica was published in 1644 in response to the Licensing Order of
1643. This period was in the height of the English Civil War.
• It is one of the most expressive protests against censorship ever written
because many of its expressed principles formed the basis for modern
justifications of that right.
• Milton wrote impassioned philosophical defenses of the principle of a
right to freedom of speech, expression and press.
• Milton defended the importance of the book as a way to reproduce the
knowledge to the masses.
• Aeropagitica is a famous work because it created the basis of modern
vision of right and freedom.
