• Approach that continuously monitors different types and
developments of risk facing banks
• Carries out offsite surveillance of the commercial banks.
• Units of this department are compliance unit, financial analysis unit,
internal administration unit
• NRB performs financial analysis based on the Nepal Rastra
Bank Act 2058 in accordance with the international practice of
‘CAMEL’

• Credit structure
• Profitability
• Liquidity positions
• Risk status
• Deposit and loan structure
• Capital adequacy
• Status of collateral, etc.

• CAMELS report is prepared
• Report is based on capital adequacy, asset quality, etc.
• Standard formats for periodical reporting is required
• Minimum requirement of reports are laid down.
