NOUN.
• A noun is a word that functions as the name of specific
object or set of objects such as living things, places, any
name etc.
TYPES OF NOUN
There are different types of noun.
 Abstract noun
 Concrete noun
 Common noun
 Proper noun
 Countable noun
 Uncountable noun
 Compound noun
 Possessive noun
 Singular noun
 Plural noun
 Collective noun

 Common noun:-
A common noun is a noun that refers to people or
thing in general.
Example: Boy, Country, City, Drink, Women e.t.c
 Proper noun:-
A proper noun is a noun that identifies a particular
person place or thing.
Example: Ali ,Pakistan ,Monday, Tom, Google e.t.c.

 Concrete noun:-
Concrete noun is a noun that refers to people and things that
exist physically.
Example: Dog, Rain, Coffee, Sope, Flag e.t.c.
 Abstract noun:-
The noun which refers to ideas, qualities and conditions or
that cannot be seen or touched
Example: Heat, Goal, Love, Hate, Hope e.t.c.

 Countable noun:-
The noun can be counted are called countable noun.
Example: Books, Chairs, Apples, Bottle, Cup e.t.c.
 Uncountable noun:-
The noun cannot be counted are called uncountable
noun.
• Note: Uncountable noun cannot be formed into
plural
Example: Milk, Water, Wheat, Rice, Sand e.t.c.

 Compound noun:-
Compound nouns are made by joining two words
together.
Example: Heartbeat, Handbag, Elsewhere,
Newspaper, Myself e.t.c.
 Possessive noun:-
A possessive noun is a noun that showes owenership
by adding apostrophe.
Example: Ali’s brother, Ali’s car, Dog’s house, Girl’s
house, Man’s work e.t.c.

 Singular noun:-
A singular noun names one person, place, thing or
idea.
Example: Book, Chair, Hen, Horse, Candy, e.t.c.
 Plural noun:-
A plural noun is a noun that indicates that there is
more than one person, place or thing
Example: Cats, Dogs, Books, Boxes, Sneezes e.t.c

 Collective noun:-
Collective noun refers to groups of people or things
Example: Audience, Family, Government, A pack of
card,A pack of shoes, e.t.c.
