APPRECIATION OF THE POEM
1. Why does the tiger have ‘few steps’ and ‘quiet rage’?
(stanza-1)
The tiger is in the zoo so it takes few steps to move and
is in quiet rage with people.

2. Where is the tiger lurking? Why?(stanza-2)


The tiger is lurking in shadow near the water hole to
catch its prey-a plump deer.

3. How does the tiger terrorise the village? (stanza -3)


The tiger terrorises the village by ‘snarling around houses
at the jungle’s edge’ baring his white fangs and claws.
4. Why does the tiger ignore the visitors?
(stanza-4)
The tiger ignores the visitors as it’s ‘locked in
concrete cell’ with his ‘strength behind the
bars’.

5. Why does the tiger stare at’brilliant stars’


with his ‘brilliant eyes’? (stanza-5)
The tiger stares at brilliant stars with brilliant
eyes as it hopes to be part of natural habitat
one day and enjoy freedom.
Why are tigers becoming extinct in
the wild ?
