Set of instructions that tells the Computer that What to do and How to
perform any task desired by the user or computer itself is called
Software.

Types of Computer Software

There are two main types of computer software
1. System Software
2. Application Software
System Software

 System Software includes set of programs designed to operate,

control and extend the processing capabilities of the computer itself.
 These are generally prepared by Computer manufacturers.
 These software perform a variety of functions of like file editing,
storage management etc.
 System Software actually controls the Hardware so that Application
Software can perform any task.

Application Softwares

 Application Softwares are the softwares those softwares that are

designed to do real work for the user.
 Application Software consists the programs that are designed to make
user more productive and assist them with personal tasks
 Application software has a variety of uses:
1. To make business activities more efficient.
2. To assist with graphic and multimedia projects.
3. To support home, personal and educational tasks.
4. To facilitate communications
