BIC in Plasmonic System

BIC : Bound State of Continuum -localized state even though they coexist with a continuous spectrum
of radiating waves that can carry energy away.

According to Friedrich and Wintgen, when two resonances pass each

other as a function of a continuous parameter, the two channels interfere,
resulting in an avoided crossing of their resonances. Typically, at a given value
of the continuous parameter, one of the channels vanishes entirely and hence
becomes a BIC with an infinite quality (Q) factor.

Two distinct Types of BIC- (i) Symmetry Protected BICs - (a) Plasmonic (b) Photonic - 0°

(ii) Fredrich-Wintgen BIC - Coupled at 11.4°
