SOCIAL STUDIES

There are lots of philosophical and scientific

approach to the study of society and its
problem.
POSITIVISM

focus on conceptual analysis rather than
one actual practice of social research.
 People who support this approach of philosophy are

called POSITIVISTS.
HUMANISM
Humanists believed that the only way to understand
human behavior was through interpretation, paying close
attention to history.
 It stands for the building of a more humane society
through an ethics based on human and other natural
values in a spirit of reason and free inquiry through
human capabilities.
INTERPRETIVISM

quantitative analysis.
INDIVIDUALISM

phenomena can be explained solely in terms of
individual psychological phenomena.

HOLISM
 Opposes the individualism
 Considers the social facts , facts that pertain to the
society rather than the individual member of society in
order to give a complete causal explanation of social
facts, we must invoke other social facts as causes.
 These people who study the society are required to keep
their own values and prejudices separate from the issues
they studied.
