EDUARDO

KINGMAN
 Renowned Lojano painter, draftsman,
printmaker and muralist, Kingman is
considered one of the masters of
Ecuadorian expressionism. He was born in
Loja on February 3, 1913. He was the son
of an American doctor who worked in the
Portovelo mines and Rosa Riofrío, from
Loja.
• This painting shows us the mistreatment of
the indigenous people that used to be
frequently in the haciendas, the marks caused
by the whip are the memory of a world full of
injustice. Transito Amaguaña in one of his
interviews expressed "A pity the bosses beat
the naked natives."
