1) What is literature?
• It is a body of work, either written, oral, or visual, containing imaginative
language that realistically portrays thoughts, emotions, and experiences of
the human condition.

• It is a body of written or orals works of a language, period, or culture,


especially those considered to have creative or artistic merit or lasting
value.

2) What are examples of literature?


• Poetry, drama, novels, short stories, biographies and autobiographies, etc.
3) Why is it important to study literature?

• Literature connects us to the past, gives us insights to the present, and helps
us envision the future.

• It helps us expand horizons by opening our eyes to different cultures,


customs, beliefs, and how these shape their citizens’ view of the world.

• It helps build critical thinking skills.
