 As of April,2019, the oil refining capacity Of india Stood at 249.4 million


tonnes,making it the second largest Refiner in India.
Oil And Gas Exploration

 Oil and natural gas corporation limited(ONGC) produces around 77% of Indian
crude oil(equivalent to around 30% of the country’s total demand) and around
62% of its natural gas.

 India is third largest energy and oil consumer In the world after China and us

 It is the fourth largest Importer of Liquefied Natural gas(LNG).

 Inida aims to reduce oil and gas dependence by 10% by 2022

1. Indian oil corporation limited.
2. Hindustan petroleum corporation limited.
3. Bharat petroleum corporation limited.
4. Bharat Oman refiner limited.
India Plans To Be Self Dependent

 The country’s gas production is expected to touch 90 billion cubic


metere(BCM) in 2040 from 21.3 BCM.

 India imports 82% of its oil needs and aims to bring that down to 67% by 2022
by replacing it with local exploration renewable energy and indigenous
ethanol fuel.
Investment And Initiatives

 Saudi Aramco is expected to invest in refineries and petrochemicals in India.


 State owned oil and natural gas corporation (ONGC) to increase crude oil
production by 4 million tons and double natural gas production by 2020.
 State Run oil firms are planning investments worth Rs.723 cross(us 111.30
million) to improve the liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) infrastructure.
 The oil ministry plans to setup bio CNG(compressed natural gas) plants and
associated infrastructure (us 1.16) billion.
