 Insufficient and ill functioning equipment
results in increased work and waste of time
by staff.
 Each hospital should setup a method where
by head nurse or nurse- in charge can put in
a requisition for necessary equipment for
repairs and maintenance.

 Constant moving the place for keeping
articles causes confusion and waste of time.
 Some hospitals maintain a central supply of
equipment and supplies. this helps to reduce
the total amount needed in the hospital.
 The nurse incharge is responsible for
keeping an adequate amount of equipment
and supplies in the ward , making sure it is in
good condition , repaired when needed and
conveniently located.

ensure an adequate stock of available
supplies on the ward or unit :
1. Set a standard for the quantity of each
item to be maintained in the ward all the
time.
2. Have a satisfactory system for
replacement of broken or worn out
equipment.
3. make regular inventories of all the items.
