Management Zones

Definition
• Management zones are a human construct that are used to allow
LAND MANAGERS to define activities that can take place within
certain areas on Public Lands.
Uses
• Management zones allow Land Managers to delineate areas of public
land to assist in minimising existing and potential conflicts between
uses and activities and the protection of park’s values.
• In general, a ‘Park’ (regional, state or national) will be zoned in a
number of ways. These include conservation zoning, recreational
zoning and education zoning.
• Significant areas in a park that are particularly sensitive to dispersed
recreational activity cane be zoned to minimise negative impacts.
