CAPITALIST WORLD

DURING COLD WAR

ERA
COLD WAR

• The era known as the "Cold War" was a political constellation of countries with two different
world-views.
• On one side were the industrialized capitalist nations aligned with the USA, called the Western
Bloc, which called itself the "Western world."
• On the other side were the Communist workers and peasants states of the Eastern Bloc, the
socialist countries within the power fabric of the Soviet Union, and China.
• In Europe, there were some neutral countries, and there was the rest of the world, the Third
World.
WHAT WERE THE ULTIMATE CAUSES FOR
THE COLD WAR?
• USSR opposed capitalism form of government, even though it was much efficient in all terms as
compared to communism which opposes freedom for domestic society
• USSR also interfered in eastern European countries such as Hungary, P-oland, Romania, and
Slovakia, thus breaking the alliance promises
• America’s refusal to share nuclear secrets for its own security from USSR was also one of the
main reason
• This conflict between the two ideologies, capitalism and communism, led to several threats to
world peace, among which, Vietnam and Korean wars stands at first .

Capitalist Countries, wanted a single unified country. This led to several attacks on south
Vietnam by north Vietnam from 1958 onwards.
• South Vietnamese Government was weak, but was in support of peace and integrity among the
two opponents. This became a main reason why USA was in favour of South Vietnam.
