LESSON NO 12

FOOD FOR US
We take food daily. Food is essential for us. We need food for the
growth of our body. Food gives us energy to work and play. Food
keeps us healthy. We eat different things in our food.
BODY- BUILDING FOODS

We eat some foods to make our bones and muscles strong. Such
foods are called body-building foods.milk, butter, cheese, fish, egg,
pulses, peas, chicken and fruits with hard skin are the example of
such foods.
ENERGY –
GIVING FOODS

Some food products like butter, cheese, oil, sugar, sweet, rice, bread, etc give us energy to work
and play. Such foods are called energy -potato giving foods. They also keep our body warm.

PROTECTIVE
FOODS
We eat foods to protect our body from diseases . Such foods are called protective
foods. Fruits, vegetables, milk, are the examples of such foods.

BALANCED
DIET
The diet which contains all types of food substances in proper amount is called a balanced diet.
We should eat a balanced diet to keep ourselves healthy and strong forever.
GOOD FOOD HABITS
1.Take your meals at fixed times and in proper
amount.
2.Eat lots of salads, fruits, and vegetables.
3.Avoid eating junk foods .
4.Always eat fresh and balanced food.
5.Do not eat the items kept uncovered.
6.Wash your hands before and after meals.
7.Eat your food slowly and chew it well.
8.Do not talk while eating.
9.Do not leave food in your plate.
10. After eating food, clean your teeth properly.
