WHAT IS IT

Crude oil Washing System (COW)’s is designed for cleaning


of oil tank upto a maximum of 150,000 cubic meter. It is
specially suitable for automatically cleaning large crude oil and
product oil and the system is with unique characteristics ie. It
can automatically clean tank and at the same time, separate
oil pollution.In this tank cleaning process there is no need for a
man to get into the tank.
The output of dirty oil can be separated into three main
components:
Oil / hydrocarbons, Water & Solid (inorganic components)

WHY IS IT USED ?
 With the production boom of crude oil, it has been more difficult to
produce deposits, such as heavy oil and high wax content oil reservoirs
are being exploited.
 For heavy oil, due to its poor mobility and the sharp viscosity increase
during lift as a result of heat loss, it is very hard to achieve adequate
production.
 For high wax content oil the wax becomes a solid and production fluid
loses its mobility. Given that both problems exist due to lower than
optimal temperatures thus an efficient solution is to use a Down-Hole
Electric Heater to reduce the viscosity of crude oil and prevent wax
deposition.
 The Down-Hole Electric Heater efficiently resolves the production issues
of oil entering the pump and oil lifting in the wellbore. The key to this
technology is the application of a skin-effect heating system combined
with a proprietary smart heating technology.

PRINCIPLE-SKIN EFFECT HEATING
SYSTEM
There are two basic conditions which are essential during the production of heavy oil
and waxy oil.
1. To let crude oil continuously flow into well bottom from the oil formation
2. To continuously lift crude oil from wellbore to surface.
Generally, thermal methods are adopted to overcome these two difficulties based on
the sensitivity of heavy oil and waxy oil to temperature. The Skin Effect Electric
Heating Technology is the most direct, economic and effective method to deal with
immobile oil.
PRINCIPLE :Its principle is basically a Single phase intermediate frequency is
transformed from a three-phase frequency current through an intermediate frequency
power supply converter. The transformed power is then conveyed to the special
heating cable inside the hollow sucker rod which constitutes a loop with the hollow
sucker rod through a circuit connector. If a particular application requires a steel
armoured jacket to be used, the heating cable core will form the loop with steel
armoured jacket rather than the hollow sucker rod and then the entire heating element
then heats the crude oil in well bore which will reduce oil viscosity and maintains
production of oil wells.

EQUIPMENT DETAILS
1)Intermediate frequency power supply:- It is a power supply device that
converts three phase power into a single phase intermediate frequency current by
power electronics IGBT (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor).Intermediate frequency
power supply ensures that the three phase equilibrium of the power network, and
improves the energy conversion efficiency through a concentrated skin effect of
increased frequency. Its output voltage and frequency is adjustable.
2)Hollow Sucker Rod :- In addition to transmitting the driving force to the sucker rod
pump for pumping the production fluid, the hollow sucker rod is also the carrier and the
channel of the heating cables. When operating a lower temperature system where
plastic heating cables are used, the hollow sucker rod constitutes a part of the circuit
loop.
3)Special Heating Cables:- It is divided into flexible cable and steel armoured
cable. The flexible cable has annealed stranded copper wire core and is coated with
plastic insulation layer and sheath layer. The steel armoured cable has a sheath made
of seamless metal pipe and uses a copper rod as its core. Its annulus is filled with a
high temperature resistant insulated material. The steel armoured special heating cable
forms its own loop for higher temperature applications.

4)Hollow Circumflex Pump:-It is a hollow structured reciprocating pump. The
heating cables pass through the pump barrel to heat crude oil under the pump in an
effort to reduce oil viscosity, improve pump efficiency and increase production. The
down-hole electric heater can all be used in conjunction with a hollow progressive
cavity pump.

The example of Kharijaginsk oilfield indexes are taken
to demonstrate technological efficiency

COST EFFICIENCY
Cost efficiency is determined by a range of factors and at each
field has its own technological peculiarities and calculation
procedures but basic factors which determine efficiency are the
following:
1. Increasing wells’ workover interval;
2. Increasing well capacity and water-cut reducing;
3. Cost reduction to scraping operations and hot-oil processing;
4. Availability of oil-associated gas and possibility of its recycling
through energy generation and its back supplying into the well.
