    There are three main types of financial institutions in Bangladesh: 1) Non-Bank Financial Institutions, 2) Banks, and 3) Special Financial Institutions. Banks are further divided into Scheduled Banks and Non-Scheduled Banks, with Scheduled Banks consisting of Specialized Banks and Commercial Banks, which include State-owned, Foreign, and Private banks. Private Commercial Banks are comprised of Conventional Private Banks and Private Islamic Banks. In total, there are 64 Banks, with 51 being Commercial Banks.
