TERMS

A term – is a word or a word-combination

specifically employed in a branch of knowledge,
science, technique, trade or art, to convey a notion,
peculiar to any branch.
 Characteristic ( in scientific style)

1. A term have to be easily coined, easily accepted, and easily replaced.

2. They have no emotional value.

3. They are usually monosemantic.

4. Direct logical relevance to the system or set of terms used in a particular field.
 Peculiarities of terms in other styles

They may also appear in other styles: in newspaper style, in publicistic and
practically, in all others. But their function in this case changes.

Terms are stylistically neutral, they may be used with a stylistic

purpose. In a story or novel terms may acquire a certain
expressive or emotional quality.
