caesarean section sepsis in


Narok County Referral Hospital.
INTRODUCTION
• Caesarean delivery is amajor obstetrical surgical aiming to save the lives
of mothers and fetuses.
• The incidence of c_section delivery both primary or repeated has risen
over the last few decades,with an estimate global number of 22%.
• As asurgical procedure,caesarean delivery may be accompanied by
anumber of complications surgical site infection being the leading.
• The rate of surgical site infection after surgery ranges from10 to 15%
worldwide as per World health organization in 2019.
• The rate of surgical site infection after surgery ranges from 19 to 33% in
kenya as per WHO in 2019.
• Problem statement:many reported cases in gynecological ward are
observed to be as aresult of post caesarean surgical wound infection
and and thus the need to identity the root cause of high preverence
rate.
• Purpose: To examine the cause of post caesarean section wound
infection in NCRH.
• Research question: What is the relationship between patient related
and procedural related factors or causes to post caesarean section
wound infection cases?
Objectives
• Broad objective:
1. To determine the major causes of post caeserian section wound
infection
• Specific objectives:
i. To examine procedural-related factors to Post-CS infection in NCRH.
ii. To examine patient-related factors to Post-CS infection in NCRH.
iii. To identify effective ways of managing post caesarean wound
infection.
Type of study
The study employ descriptive qualitative study to describe and identify
the relationship between patient related and procedural factors.
