PROBLEMS

:
INTERNET CONNECTION
1 ACCESSIBILTY
⬢ The closure and temporary shutdown of schools and universities left
instructors and learners alike to adopt and adapt to a new system
through various online platforms they were not prepared and trained
for. Even with the availability of a sea of platforms and online
educational tools in the 21st century, accessibility, affordability,
flexibility, learning pedagogy, life-long learning and educational
policy according to Murgatotd still stands out as broadly identified
challenges.

2
LACK OF EXPOSURE IN REAL WORK
2 ENVIRONMENT
⬢ Traditionally, OJTs are crucial programs in college where the
students will get to experience the working world and gain real-
time exposure in the field, however, due to the pandemic and the
digital shift, these trainings are being re-introduced through the
internet, the gadgets and the web. While it’s easy to offer lectures
over Zoom, many engineering modules require students to be
physically in situ (Williams, 2020). Although online training might
be the best alternative as of now, not everything can be learnt
remotely, cut away from interpersonal and intercultural exchange
(Samir, 2020).

2 EE, ME and IT-centered HPI-simulators
⬢ While Hytec Power Incorporated aimed to provide students with
everything they need from web literacy to flexible working hours
to the proper online support, the HPI learning platform, Electude
LMS, is focused on innovation in the fields Electrical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering and Information Technology and provided
little platform for Civil Engineering studies. Although there’s more
room for improvement in the future, the trainees were only
exposed to geotechnical-related research and studies for the whole
duration of the training.
